·Car companies face national IV implementation challenges

Since 2010, the implementation of the National IV standard has been delayed several times. Now the Ministry of Environmental Protection has decided to implement it on July 1, 2013. It is inevitable that the industry will still be able to guarantee the time. At the same time, the National IV standard is also a challenge for vehicle companies. According to the reporter's understanding, there are currently three major problems facing the vehicle manufacturers: oil supply, product consistency, and user perception and acceptance of National IV vehicles.

In the opinion of industry experts and business people, oil is already one of the recognized problems, but this does not depend on the whole vehicle company, so everyone hopes that the oil supply will break through before the implementation date. In addition, vehicle manufacturers also recommend strengthening supervision and product production consistency. "At present, most of the key component technologies are in the hands of foreign companies. Many parts and components are purchased from foreign products, mainly in Corning, Bosch, etc. In the process of testing, we also used domestic component manufacturers' products, but it is easy. A problem occurred. The relevant person in charge of a complete vehicle company said that the national implementation of the national IV standard, the corresponding national IV products and supporting parts system will eventually fall into the localization problem, so that the enterprise can fundamentally reduce the cost pressure, otherwise The pressure is passed on to the end market, and users are hard to accept.

In terms of technical routes, each vehicle company has its own focus. For example, heavy-duty vehicles are mainly based on SCR technology routes, but the technical route is highly dependent on urea. The vehicle companies recommend that the state strengthen management and supervision of urea production enterprises, including the construction of related supporting facilities. In terms of light vehicle technical routes, various auto companies have different opinions. Some enterprises recognize DOC or DOC POC technical routes. Some enterprises believe that DPF DOC or DOC POC and other technical routes can be realized, but the advantages and disadvantages are different.

At the “Technology Exchange Meeting on Implementing the National IV Emission Standards”, the person in charge of the vehicle company once again expressed their views on the above issues.

FAW Liberation: Perfecting urea supporting construction

What are the difficulties in terms of time and technology for implementing Country IV on July 1, 2013?

Faced with this problem, Wei Libao, chief engineer of the technical department of FAW Jiefang Automobile Co., Ltd. said: "There should be no further extension. This is unlikely." Wei Libao believes that infrastructure construction should keep pace with the implementation of the National IV standard, such as the National IV engine. Maintenance, such as where the urea in the SCR system should be added.

"At present, the relevant domestic supporting facilities have not been formed. Taking urea as an example, the relevant supporting measures for the production of urea and even the addition of urea are still not perfect. Relevant industries should keep up with the progress and promote the national IV standard better and faster." Wei Libao said The National IV technology has matured, which is beyond doubt, but there are too many hardships behind it. "If post-processing technology and electronic control technology are in the hands of foreign companies, it is not impossible to achieve in China, but it is difficult at this stage." Wei Libao told reporters that the most difficult thing is that the national IV oil cannot be fully supplied.

According to reports, FAW’s liberation mainly uses the SCR technology route in the country IV, while the dump trucks mainly use the EGR technology route. "The state should improve its industrial policies and strengthen the consistency of inspections." Wei Libao suggested that as far as possible, there should be no fake country IV products. In addition, since there are few inspection agencies for the EGR technology route in China and the inspection time is too long, it is recommended to improve in this respect.

Dongfeng Commercial Vehicle: Focus on doing your job

Yang Xiyuan, head of the engine department of the Commercial Vehicle Technology Center of Dongfeng Motor Co., Ltd., believes that the selection of a reasonable emission technology route can achieve sustainable social and economic development.

"In terms of the pressure of environmental improvement, the National IV can no longer be postponed. The later the implementation of the National IV standard, the more pollutant emissions, the worse the air quality. Therefore, from the perspective of social responsibility and environmental protection, Dongfeng commercial vehicles will go all out to prepare." Yang Xiyuan told reporters.

According to reports, in order to achieve national IV, national V emissions, Dongfeng commercial vehicles identified two technical routes, one is the National IV engine selection catalytic reduction processor (SCR); the second is to choose cooling EGR particle oxidation catalyst POC

"At present, some products have been promoted to the market. Beijing, Shanghai and other places have also achieved sales, but the amount is very small, mainly municipal vehicles, sanitation vehicles and postal vehicles."

How to make it acceptable to end users? Regarding this issue, Yang Xiuyuan said: "For ordinary people, commercial vehicles are production materials. As long as they can transport goods from one place to another, the cost is as small as possible, and users can be satisfied. But the country of purchase IV vehicles are likely to bring cost burden to users. Therefore, we can only improve the user's use and maintenance costs and improve the transportation efficiency through quality improvement. In addition, reducing vehicle fuel consumption is also one of the measures, according to internal test sample data. National IV vehicles using the SCR technology route can indeed improve fuel economy."

"For the implementation of the National IV standard as scheduled, I mainly have two suggestions. First, the oil is ready to be put in place before implementation; second, the supporting measures (such as the social replenishment of urea) are more perfect. It is not realistic to rely on the OEM to do it. Only when the parties coordinate and promote, the automakers will do their jobs, and the national IV standards can be implemented." Yang Xiyuan said.

For the open problem of post-processing technology, Yang Xiyuan also proposed five key issues: First, the cost, the use of precious metal content in the post-processor, including heat insulation, sound insulation, etc. will increase costs; second, durability, including weight, thermal cycling, The location of the sensor, etc.; the third is the total layout limit; the fourth is thermal management, the internal temperature must be maintained to promote the emission reduction reaction; the fifth is the maintenance interval.

Beiqi Foton: Strengthening consistency supervision

"At present, the biggest problem is still concentrated on the oil, the sulfur content is too high." Lei Wei, deputy section chief of the Electronic Control Calibration Department of Beiqi Foton Motor Co., Ltd. told the reporter that the technical department has done the test and the oil problem is very harmful to the vehicle. First, the exhaust emissions are difficult to control, leading to smoke; second, the sulfur content is not up to standard, and the engine is not fully burned. “I think this is a very important factor.”

According to Lei Wei, at present, Beiqi Foton Motor mainly uses Cummins and Foton engines on the National IV engine. “The Cummins engine has a displacement of 2.8 liters and 3.8 liters, mainly equipped with pickup trucks. The Futian engine is mostly equipped with light trucks and the technical route uses EGR POC.” Lei Wei said that the national IV emission regulations have been delayed several times due to external environmental factors. The Ministry of Regulations officially implemented on July 1, 2013, and should be available as scheduled.

Lei Wei also put forward a suggestion: "In response to the implementation of the relevant national regulations of the Ministry of Environmental Protection, the companies have done their work seriously and the products are ready. But one must mention that the key technologies are currently controlled by foreign companies. However, the level of domestic manufacturing technology is relatively low, and the ability of supporting enterprises is slightly insufficient, which must be strengthened in terms of product consistency."

Jianghuai Automobile: Focus on execution

Zhu Wenjun, an engineer at the Power Research Institute of Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Co., Ltd., said that the Jianghuai heavy commercial vehicle has reached the national IV standard and is based on the SCR technology route. Light vehicles use EGR DOC and EGR DOC POC. "The light vehicles are mainly based on DOC POC, and the national V standard will be implemented in the future. We will adopt the DPF technical route, and the heavy-duty vehicles will maintain the SCR route." Zhu Wenjun said.

"I feel that there are many technical routes in China at present. From the national level, the leading technology route has no clear direction, which makes it difficult for the operation of the main engine. For example, the mainstream technology route is SCR and DPF. If you use POC, you can also However, there are still some problems with POC." Zhu Wenjun said that heavy-duty vehicles are mainly based on SCR, and the technical routes of light-duty vehicles are more diverse. "SCR has higher requirements for the layout of the whole vehicle, and the requirements for using the DPF are also high. At this stage, the dependence on the POC technical route is relatively high," he analyzed.

Zhu Wenjun said that Jianghuai has begun to sell national IV vehicles, mainly 3.5 to 5 tons. "The amount is not very large, mainly based on government procurement. Recommended for ordinary users, there are still difficulties at this stage, mainly because the cost is much higher, and users can't accept it." Zhu Wenjun believes that the state should increase the construction of related infrastructure facilities. For example, standard urea filling, if not standardized, SCR is prone to problems, and has a greater impact on vehicle reliability.

Regarding how to better implement the National IV standard, Zhu Wenjun believes that, first of all, users accept questions, and must increase publicity to let users understand. In addition, we must fundamentally consider the users and bring them benefits. "Policy execution is also a problem. Regardless of whether it is implementing country III or country IV, supervision is still a weak link and there is unfair competition." Zhu Wenjun stressed: "If all the products of real country IV are used, then all enterprises are Standing on the same starting point of competition. If we launch the National IV product, some companies launch the fake country IV, which forms unfair competition. Therefore, the focus is on supervision."

Dongfeng shares: appropriate subsidies should be given

On March 29, Yu Guoqiang, chief designer of the engine engineering department of the product development department of Dongfeng Motor Co., Ltd., accepted the interview of the reporter. "At present, Dongfeng Motor has two national IV product platforms, one of which has been sold and the other is still being tested." Yu Guoqiang told reporters that Dongfeng Motor is mainly based on more traditional technical routes. “The products based on the DOC technology route are already on sale and have been mass-produced; the other one uses the EGR DOC.”

Yu Guoqiang said that the Dongfeng heavy commercial vehicles mainly use the SCR technology route, while the light commercial vehicles are mainly concentrated in the EGR DOC. “The technology is ready. For example, the engine equipped with the Capt light truck was first introduced from Japan and can meet Euro IV and Euro V standards. Therefore, it is very easy to upgrade to the National IV standard on this basis.” Yu Guoqiang said: “ The EGR technology route has relatively small changes to the whole vehicle and is suitable for light vehicles. If the light vehicle adopts the SCR technology route, the first vehicle layout is not easy to implement; the second is that urea addition is also a problem. Therefore, on the light vehicle, we use EGR The technical route is the main one."

"Now we are more distressed about product consistency. On the one hand, the equipment and production lines of Dongfeng Light Commercial Vehicles are the latest. In addition, we have chosen the international joint venture company's domestic joint venture company in product consistency. In this regard, Yu Guoqiang believes that regardless of the internal combustion engine industry or the entire automotive industry, the actual reflection of the state's industrial manufacturing level, a link out of the link is prone to problems. "For example, if the announcement is made on the product, it will be settled. If one of the parts changes, the enterprise will re-declare. It is difficult to declare the announcement. In principle, one is too late; the second is high cost. If you use parts and components from foreign companies, you may encounter this problem."

Finally, Yu Guoqiang gave his own suggestion: "I feel that the expert opinions at this seminar are relatively pertinent. As some experts have suggested, the implementation of the national IV standard should be appropriately subsidized as a new energy vehicle. If the enterprise is invested The cost is passed on to the user, which is not suitable. Especially for light-duty vehicles, the cost pressure is relatively high. Now the profit of selling a car is very low, and the price of the whole vehicle is raised by 4000~5000 yuan, which is difficult for users to bear." Yu Guoqiang said that direct subsidies to users are a relatively quick way to implement, and vehicle companies can also reduce the burden.

A heavy truck enterprise: Do not repeat the fake country III

"No matter the country or the enterprise, we hope to implement the National IV standard as soon as possible." A responsible person of a heavy truck company that did not want to be named said. However, there are currently several difficulties. First, the quality of refined oil cannot be guaranteed, and the impact is relatively large. The refined oil is mainly due to the sulfur content, and the quality of the refined oil in the Shandong region is even worse, because there are more small refineries.

Followed by the capacity of the supplier. “Now the basic selection of foreign suppliers, production capacity may also have problems. At this National IV technical seminar, some experts also expressed this. Assume that all switch to the national IV standard, suppliers will not supply, if used Domestic suppliers' products are concerned about reliability and consistency." The person in charge believes that if the National IV standard is implemented in the coming year, the domestic supplier's products can only be supplemented.

The person in charge said frankly: "We are not willing to use domestic products for the time being, and some technical problems have arisen in the whole vehicle test process. If we always use foreign products, we will face cost problems."

According to him, the products developed by the company currently use EGR and SCR for matching engines below 11 liters, and SCR technology routes for more than 13 liters. “If large engines use EGR, reliability may be affected. Generally, small engines use this technology route.” The person in charge said that SCR is the key route for the company to develop national IV products.

At present, most users complain about the price of urea and don't know where to buy it. The person in charge said: "We are also worried that users may not understand why urea is added. If the country releases SCR and EGR, the user may not choose. SCR, now all major manufacturers are pushing two technical routes at the same time."

For the urea problem, the person in charge said that according to the test results, the urea consumption is about equal to 1/20 of the fuel, which means that 100 liters of fuel needs to consume 4 to 5 liters of urea, and the consumption is not high, using a portable urea tank. It will not cause too much burden on the user. "However, we are worried that the user feels trouble, resulting in no addition of urea. Once the urea is not enough, OBD will automatically alarm, limit the engine power, and damage the vehicle." He said: "And the cost of urea is higher, now buy, 1 kg. About 10 yuan, but the purchase standard of each enterprise is inconsistent, mainly because there is no mass production, the sales price of the terminal is not fixed, I think that four or five yuan per kilogram is reasonable."

The person in charge believes that the implementation date of the National IV standard is determined, which is conducive to the preparation of the enterprise as soon as possible. "There are two voices in the industry today. First, the implementation of the National IV will be implemented as scheduled next year. Second, there may be problems in resources, technology, and after-sales."

The person in charge also said that the company will launch the National IV model in the second half of the year to check related issues through the market. In addition, I hope that the implementation of the National IV standard should not repeat the mistakes of the True and False Country III. "We are worried about pushing the National IV standard, and some companies without strength may be fraudulent."
