British latest aircraft carrier installed MT30 gas turbine alternator

The powerful Rolls-Royce MT30 gas turbine with a capacity of 36 megawatts (about 50,000 horsepower) is the key equipment necessary for the space-hungry high-power naval vessels. Each 120-ton MT30 gas turbine alternator consists of an alternator supplied by General Electric and an MT30 gas turbine supplied by Rolls-Royce in a single enclosure.

According to the news, each aircraft carrier will be equipped with two MT30 gas turbine alternators, the first one was installed in March. The MT30 gas turbine alternator will provide two-thirds of the 109 megawatts of power required for a 65,000-ton aircraft carrier, enough to power a town as large as Swindon.

BAE Systems, Thales UK, Babcock and the Department of Defense are cooperating to deliver the "HMS Queen Elizabeth" and "HMS Prince of Wales" aircraft carriers.

The "HMS Queen Elizabeth" will be the center of the 21st century defense force in the UK. Each 65,000-ton aircraft carrier will provide a four-acre military base for the armed forces. The aircraft carrier can sail 500 miles a day anywhere in the world.

The Queen Elizabeth-class aircraft carrier equipped with the Joint Strike Fighter Lightning II fighter and many helicopters is capable of engaging in a full range of military activities involved in combat operations to provide humanitarian assistance and disaster relief.
