NXP and Cohda Wireless form a car-to-vehicle communications alliance

NXP Semiconductors and Cohda Wireless have jointly announced that they have signed a memorandum of understanding on a car-to-vehicle communications alliance and will work together to implement and deploy a harmonized unified vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-infrastructure wireless communication technology in the European region.

NXP and Cohda have also jointly launched a new technology brand, RoadLINKTM, in hopes of promoting the Car-to-X communication and security solutions for on-board units and roadside units in their intelligent transportation systems.

NXP and Cohda stated that the overall goal of the car-to-car communications alliance between the two parties is to implement and deploy an intelligent transportation system in which communication partners such as automobiles, transportation infrastructure and service providers will be wireless.
