Recently, SensorElectronic Technology (SETI), based in Columbia, USA, put its expansion plans into action, on the one hand to increase research and development, and on the other hand began to transition its existing production line to mass production. It is said that this will make SETI the first supplier to supply ultraviolet light-emitting diodes with a wavelength less than 365nm in batches. The initial plan is to achieve an annual production capacity of 100 million LEDs.
SETI claims to be the first company to supply short-wave UV LEDs to the market in 2004, and since then, SETI has provided customers with a range of LED lamps ranging in wavelength from 240nm to 355nm. SETI currently has a 15,000 square foot facility and the facility is ISO 9001 certified. The plant features a vertically integrated R&D center and a small batch line that covers epitaxial growth, chip fabrication, packaging, testing and analysis, as well as a prototype line that assembles LEDs into a complete system.
The company's ongoing first phase of expansion is primarily to transform the original 15,000 square foot facility into a 20,000 square foot R&D center. The focus of the retrofit is to expand the clean room area for chip manufacturing and packaging, which will be used to develop new mask design techniques, processing techniques and packaging solutions to further enhance SETI's UVTOP and UVClean device performance. And to ensure that SETI's leading position in the UV LED market. In addition, SETI recently purchased a new plant for the construction of a large-scale production line, and the company plans to expand it into a new 130,000-square-foot facility. The plant will be used primarily for high volume manufacturing of UV LEDs and construction of new engineering centers.
