The above-mentioned person in charge said during an exclusive interview with Xinhuanet.com reporters that according to the current situation, the rumor was disseminated in individual counties in Baoding City, saying that “a temple collapsed” and spread to Zhangzhou, Hengshui, and Langfang.

In response to the “Temple Collapse” mentioned in the rumor, the official said: “Users are very concerned about whether temples in Chuzhou and Baoding really collapsed. After verifying with local authorities, there are no temples and Buddhas in Zhangzhou and Baoding. The collapse of the tower is a rumor."

As regards the rumors of "placing fire and eating peaches and exterminating evil spirits" in some places, the responsible person stated that this statement is in one piece with the rumors that "the temple collapsed" and "received boys, girls, and children" without any scientific basis.

The person in charge said that after the government’s Weibo “Hebei Announcement” issued a rumored statement, rumor spread has been clearly controlled in Hebei Province. Relevant departments will still pay close attention to the development of the situation and determine the next steps based on the actual situation.
