Israel RISCO Outdoor Detector Frequently Asked Questions

What are the advantages of the digital correlation technology of Israel's RISCO outdoor detectors compared to other detectors with two PIR channels?
A: In other outdoor detectors with 2 PIR channels (such as Optex, Crow, Paradox), if different events (simultaneous) trigger each PIR channel, it will cause false alarms.
The digital correlation technology of Israel's RISCO outdoor detectors prevents false alarms from different events because it compares signals between channels. The signal mismatch caused by different events, as shown in the figure, was cancelled.

Why does Israel's RISCO outdoor detector have 2 MW channels? I only see 1 MW module.
Answer: The microwave module of Israel's RISCO outdoor detector has two different channels; each frequency generates a separate Doppler pulse and is a separate channel. The 2 channels are used to distinguish the forward and backward movement targets. Note that there are 4 electrical connections from the module to the PCB board; 2 per channel. A typical single-channel MW module has only 2 electrical connections.
Why is it not recommended in the specification to point the detector at a swaying object; does it mean that the swaying identification technology does not actually work?
A: Swing recognition technology does work. However, in order to obtain excellent detection performance, it is recommended to avoid pointing the Israeli RISCO outdoor detector to a swinging object if possible. If there is no other option, then the swinging object should be at least 5m away from the WatchOUT detector as shown in the figure.

Thermal energy reaches the PIR sensor through optical pathways such as lenses or mirrors, which are placed inside the element. PIR sensors usually include two IR elements that convert IR (infrared) energy into voltage.
There are two reasons for this:
• First, intruders may use rocking objects as a cover to hide themselves because rocking objects cause a decrease in MW sensitivity near them.
• Secondly, the swing distance of palm trees with large leaves may exceed the allowable net distance. In extreme cases, it may cause detection on the PIR channel and cause false alarms. The "swing" sensitivity cannot be set to low because this will allow the intruder to cross the path of the probe without being caught.
In short, the swing recognition virtually eliminates false alarms due to rocking objects, the degree of which is determined by the need to catch intruders. In a test conducted in an area with rocking trees, Israel's RISCO outdoor detectors did not generate false alarms, in contrast to the high false alarm rates generated by detectors without two MW channels.
What is the anti-pet restriction for Israeli RISCO outdoor detectors?
A: The pet limit is animal head height 70cm. Any animal whose head height is lower than this will not appear in two separate PIR channels at the same time, hiding will not cause an alarm. There is no weight limit like ours for other Israeli RISCO pet detectors.
When should I use a special pet-proof lens for low-mounted installations?
A: This lens is required when it is necessary to prevent pet false alarms and the installation height is less than 1.7m. The lens has a special optical design to ensure that pets are prevented from false alarms when installed in low places.
How do weather conditions such as rain, snow or fog affect the performance of Israel's RISCO outdoor detectors?
A: The above weather conditions should not adversely affect the performance of Israel's RISCO outdoor detectors. Neither MW nor PIR channels are affected. Fog does not affect the PIR detector, although it will have a negative impact on active infrared. If it snows, the detection performance may increase because snow reduces the background temperature and the temperature difference between the intruder and the background increases. In addition, Israeli RISCO outdoor detectors are provided with hoods to avoid direct sunlight and prevent rain droplets from leaking onto the lens.
Why is installation flexibility so important in outdoor installations?
A: The importance of the installation flexibility of outdoor detectors cannot be underestimated, as it is a prerequisite for excellent detection performance and a high degree of avoidance of false alarms. If the method of installing the detector is inconsistent with the terrain, the detection performance will be low, resulting in a high false alarm rate. Engineers will benefit from the installation flexibility of Israel's RISCO outdoor detectors because it allows them to easily provide a perfect match to the protected terrain, providing excellent performance.
Can Israel's RISCO outdoor detectors be installed close to each other or back to back?
Answer: Yes. Israel's RISCO outdoor detectors have MW anti-collision capabilities and can therefore be allowed to do so. This saves wiring time and is particularly beneficial for barrier applications.
How does the MW anti-collision function of Israel's RISCO outdoor detectors work?
A: The anti-collision function works automatically without any code or jumper settings. It is enabled through 2 MW frequencies as follows:
The MW pulse is emitted during the duty cycle controlled by the crystal. The crystals in each detector are slightly shifted in time and randomly shifted. The 2 MW frequencies can "feel" the MW interference from other detectors and "skip" in time to avoid collisions.
How are camera options available?
A: When ordering a camera option, the camera comes with a Watch OUT cap. Only this cover is provided with the camera and it will fit any type of Israeli RISCO outdoor detector, saving logistics, reducing inventory and part numbers.
It should be noted that the 4-line camera connection and the detector connection are separate. 2 lines are for power supply and 2 lines are for analog video. A single camera power supply is also available for purchase. It is not provided automatically with each camera. This saves customer costs because the contractor usually provides common power for all cameras in the field.
What is "Metal Swivel Conduit Adaptor" ?
Answer: When the wiring is a tube external to the wall surface, a metal rotating conduit adapter will be used and a standard wall rotation bracket will be used. It allows wiring from the wall tube to the top (or bottom) of the wall rotation bracket, suitable for 16mm or 21mm diameter tubes as shown.

The metal rotating conduit adapter should be ordered separately (P/N RA300SC0000A) when needed.
What is IP65 ?
A: IP65 is a weatherproof rating. IP indicates entry protection (entering entrance or access).
• The first digit of the rating, such as IP65, is related to dust-proof entry protection (6 meaning dust).
• The second number, such as IP65, is related to waterproof entry protection (5 means protection spray).
Most other branded outdoor detectors are rated IP54. Unexpected water spray from the garden hose can cause damage, rendering the IP54 detector useless. And it will not cause any damage to the detector rated as IP65, such as Israel's RISCO outdoor detector WatchOUT.
