Where is China's tire difference?

As of December 3, the survey results showed that 25% of the participants chose “agreement” and “63% of participants said they did not agree” for the “main technical gap between Chinese and foreign tire companies”. 13% of people chose to say "not good."

As a result, the reporter interviewed a senior tire technician from an international tire testing company. The source said that because of the confidentiality agreement signed with customers, companies and employees, although the company has mastered the test data of some mainstream companies and conducted comparisons, it is not easy to make any evaluation.

However, this person also mentioned that certain international tire branding technologies, such as the Goodyear tire pressure control technology mentioned at the beginning, “are very difficult.”

In the survey, some people who expressed "agreement" stated that the current technology of domestic tire companies "does not give force." In addition to the factors of the enterprise itself, in terms of quality, the upstream material industry is also difficult to provide support for the realization of tire technology.

Among those who partially denied that "technology is the main gap between the Chinese and foreign tire industries", one is an official responsible for the tire business in a tire county in Shandong Province. He told reporters that for some cutting-edge technologies, foreign large companies do have their unique features, but in terms of general tire products to meet market demand, some tire companies in China are not bad.

Some respondents also believe that the brand is the main factor in opening the gap between Chinese and foreign companies.

Regarding the specific reasons leading to the technological gap, according to the survey content, 33% of the respondents believe that “indifferent countries have different awareness of innovation”; half of the respondents believe that “industrial gap exists”; and “long history of foreign tire industry development” accounted for 17%.

How to catch up

Comprehensive survey results show that whether it is a “main” gap or not, the technical gap between domestic tire companies and foreign tire giants is indeed objective. To reduce this gap, where do domestic tire companies go?

In this issue, it is believed that enterprises should “exercise technology-led talent strategy” and occupy more than 60% (63%) of the proportion. The proportion of the other two options is almost the same, 17% of people believe that tire companies should "establish a technological innovation mechanism", 21% of people chose "to buy foreign patented technology."

It is understood that in recent years, some of the larger tire companies in China have recognized the importance of R&D and technical talents and have increasingly strengthened their investment in this area. Earlier when visiting a large-scale tire company in Shandong, the reporter learned that although the company's production line is in a town, it has already established a research and development center in Qingdao and other places.

According to reports, the purpose of doing business in this way is to create a good environment and attract high-end technical personnel; second is to facilitate the reception of information in all aspects.

In addition, at a certain critical period of transition, the company will occasionally invite foreign tire technology masters to guide and help overcome technical problems. This permission may be seen as a microcosm of exploration by domestic companies in the construction of talent strategies and technical mechanisms.

Regarding “How soon can Chinese tires come out”, some people support the purchase of existing patented technologies. This group of people believe that most of the well-known foreign tire companies have a history of more than a hundred years, and Germany, the United States, Japan and other countries generally have a relatively strong industrial base, "this is not a domestic enterprise can catch up with overnight."
