Teradyne Introduces Ventura High Speed, High Density Connectors

Teradyne Connection Systems, Inc. (TCS) introduces Ventura's high-speed, high-density connectors, which are the fastest connectors for single-ended interconnects today, while the number of signal pins per inch exceeds that of comparable products.

Ventura connectors are available for 6.25Gbps single-ended and 12Gbps differential applications. For single-ended connections, the crosstalk loss does not exceed 5%, the insertion loss does not exceed 2dB at 6GHz, and does not exceed 3dB at 8GHz; the insertion loss of differential connections does not exceed 2dB at 6GHz, and does not exceed 3dB at 10GHz.

The 14-row model of the connector provides 178 real signal pairs (single-ended) and 93 differential signal pairs per inch. Thanks to surface mount technology, the Ventura connector reduces the via effect for higher performance, aligns up to 5,000 contacts and guarantees 100% reliable soldering.

In addition, the Ventura connector allows high-density signal routing in the vertical and horizontal directions of the backplane, thus reducing the number of layers and layout time of the PCB. The connector is currently available in 8- and 14-row versions, as well as 8-row right angle plugs.
