The research paper has been accepted as the top international conference on computer graphics in the field of computer graphics and will be published in the full text in July in the top journal of Computer Graphics in the American Computer Graphics Journal. All along, the 3D printer has limited print size and can not directly print larger objects. China Research Group, combined with the 3D printing and planar laser cutting their respective manufacturing advantages, put forward a fast, cheap block manufacturing large objects. According to the author of the paper, Professor Liu Ligang from China University of Science and Mathematics, introduced the 3D object model as a rough part of the internal convex polyhedron and an external fine part. The internal convex polyhedron is assembled by multiple laser cutting plates, Self-locking mechanism connected to a solid internal support structure; external fine parts are divided into multiple parts and 3D printers were manufactured separately, and then attached to the internal support structure to ensure the appearance of the details of the surface of the object. Experimental results show that this method saves material cost and manufacturing time by 60% compared with the current simple block printing method and enables the manufactured object to satisfy the required connection strength, overall balance and printability.
