Beiben's first SUV GLK off the assembly line

After the introduction of GLK, the product line of Beijing Benz was perfected.

On December 2, the first domestically produced GLK off-road vehicle put into operation by Beijing Benz was formally rolled off at the first Mercedes-Benz plant in Beijing. The car will be officially launched at the beginning of next year. The first cars will be launched in 3.0L models, including GLK300 Dynamic, GLK300 Style and GLK300 Luxury.

In the GLK body size, the length, width and height of the domestic GLK are respectively 4528mm, 1840mm, and 1689mm, and the wheelbase is 2755mm, which is consistent with the imported version. The new car will be equipped with a 3.0-liter V6 Engine equipped with a seven-speed automatic transmission. According to the latest published parameter list, the maximum power of the new car engine is 180kW, which is 10kW more than the imported GLK300, and the maximum torque is still 300Nm. In the future, GLK is expected to launch a model equipped with a 1.8T engine, and its price will be further reduced.

After the launch of GLK, the product line of Beijing Benz was perfected. The three luxury mid-size SUVs in the C-class, E-class, and GLK categories covered two major market segments, namely the sedans and SUVs.

A series of key projects to promote the GLK's offline is a key step in the future of Beijing Benz's series of key development projects. With the foundation of the new engine plant and the offline of GLK, the cooperation between BAIC and Mercedes-Benz is now deepening.

At the end of June this year, Daimler AG and Beijing Automotive signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement to further deepen cooperation, and decided to inject another 2 billion euros into Beijing Benz. The investment projects include the new engine plant, R&D center, and vehicle production capacity expansion. On July 9, the foundation of Beijing Benz New Engine Factory marked the beginning of a series of huge construction projects. In the next five years, the annual production capacity of Beijing Benz will increase by 100,000 vehicles per year, and a new product will be put into operation every year. In early November, BAIC and the Daimler Group signed a letter of intent on comprehensive strategic cooperation in Stuttgart, Germany, which deepened the relationship between the two parties into a comprehensive strategic partnership and decided to further cooperate in new energy vehicles.

Xu Heyi, chairman of Beiqi Group and chairman of Beijing Benz, stated that this year, the sales growth of Beijing Benz will exceed 85% for the whole year, and revenue and profits will also increase substantially.
