A new generation of propylene disproportionation catalyst production increase

According to "Asian Chemical Weekly," a new generation of disproportionation catalyst developed by Mitsui Chemicals Japan has been successfully used in its OCU plant to increase propylene yield and actual production. The device can add 10,000 tons/year of propylene production, while also reducing water, electricity, steam consumption and pollutant emissions.
Mitsui Chemicals developed this new type of catalyst by adding a multi-metal composite to a conventional tungsten catalyst. The new catalyst has high activity, low reaction temperature and high selectivity. Its reaction activity is 30 times higher than that of conventional catalysts. The reaction temperature can be lowered from 300°C to 230°C to 250°C. The selectivity of the reaction can be increased from 88% to 94%. . Mitsui Chemicals' OCU in Osaka, Japan, was put into production in 2004. Currently, the propylene production capacity is 140,000 tons/year. After using this catalyst, the production of propylene can be increased to 150,000 tons/year.
